Ragdoll's are a relatively new breed of cat. They were first bred by Ann Baker, a breeder in California, who crossed her Angora-Persian with various Birman and Burmese cats to produce a unique breed. These large, good natured felines became known as Ragdolls, due to their tendancy to go limped when held.
They are very beautiful cats that come in four pattern variations (bi-colour, van, mitted or colour-point) and come in six different colours (seal, blue, chocolate, lilac, red and cream). The points of a ragdoll may be solid, lynx, tortie or torbie, making them a breed of vast variety. They are well known for their calm and placid temperament towards both humans and animals, and make excellent family pets.
